David Neel, of the Kwakiutl First Nation, Vancouver Island, is recognized as one of the most important Pacific Northwest Coast artists, carving in the tradition of his family, which included carvers Mungo Martin and Ellen Neel. David Neel is also a renowned painter and jewelry maker.
